For more than 20 years the BCA has held a majority on council and school board.

The BCA has  made Burnaby a great place to live by providing the very best in

recreation facilities, parks, libraries and schools, while maintaining one of

the lowest tax rates in the Metro area.

Burnaby has one of the lowest tax rates in the region. 

And, the BCA has made Burnaby the most financially stable city in the region, with no debt and substantial cash and property reserves.

A Safe Community

"The BCA will do whatever is necessary to keep Burnaby a safe place to live."

The BCA has recently hired 24 new police officers and 25 more are on the way.   

The BCA has also hired more firefighters and built a new fire hall, while expanding others.

And, we take tough action on crime.

A Greener Community

The BCA believes in keeping Burnaby green.

25% of Burnaby is parkland and there are hundreds of kilometres of bike trails and urban trails.

The BCA has introduced a program to reduce energy usage in city buildings and schools, saving tax payers millions of dollars.

The BCA has also introduced a new waste management collection program and electronic and bio-solid recycling.

A Liveable Community

The BCA has built the very best in recreation facilities, libraries, community centres and other public places for everyone to enjoy.

The BCA is committed to actively promoting public music, theatre, art as well as sports and fitness.

We’ve used new developments to create opportunities for non-market housing for people with low income, seniors and people with disabilities.

A Voice for Everyone

The BCA promotes citizen involvement in decision making. Hundreds of volunteers have worked on the City’s committees and task forces.

The BCA believes that citizen participation is the fundamental principle for meeting our objective of a successful, inclusive community. With over 100 citizens presently participating on committees and task forces, we do our best to draw on the wisdom of our residents, businesses and community organizations.
